Child Fatality Review Program Will Host Regional Training

With support from the Children's Trust Fund and the Department of Social Services- the Missouri State Technical Assistance Team (STAT) Child Fatality Review Program is providing their 2008 annual training at 17 locations across the State beginning July 9th. 

These one-day sessions Will provide updated and useful information on child fatality review programs, converting data into meaningful strategies, understanding SIDS and multidisciplinary investigations of abuse head trauma. 

Training is free to all participants and is open to the entire child protection community.  Seating is limited to find out more information go to www.ctf4kids.org

The National Children’s Advocacy Center will host the 9th National Conference on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention at the Marriott Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 26-28, 2008.

Forensic Evaluation Training

The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) is offering a Forensic Evaluation Training for graduate level mental health clinicians who are interested in conducting extended forensic evaluations of children when sexual abuse is suspected. This training is appropriate for both clinicians with some experience and those just beginning this type of work. It is not designed for front line investigative interviewers who conduct one-time interviews.

The training will be held over three full days on April 28-30, 2008, July 28-30, 2008 and November 12-14, 2008.  The fee for each training session is $549.  Participants are responsible for all transportation, lodging and some meals (lunches will be provided).

Healing the Heart of a Challenging Child

The Missouri State University Department of Nursing is sponsoring a parenting conference on Saturday, April 19th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. called Healing the Heart of a Challenging Child. Proceeds from the conference will support nursing scholarships.

Community Action: What YOU can do to Stop Bullying Now!

Mark your calendar for the all-new Stop Bullying Now! Webcast hosted by U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services, Health Resources & Services Administration and Maternal and Child Health Bureau.  The webcast will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 pm. EDT.  The Stop Bullying Now! Webcast will feature “spotlight examples” of state- and community-level campaigns that use the Stop Bullying Now! resources, and will outline how YOU can put the resources to work locally.
