Stepping Stones for SAFE Kids

Missouri KidsFirst held their first Stepping Stones for SAFE Kids: A Medical Response to Child Abuse Conference on April 28th & 29th, 2008 at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Medical experts and child advocates came together from across Missouri to learn more about the importance of the medical response in preventing and treating child abuse.  Over 100 professionals participated in the training which included tracks for New SAFE CARE Providers, an Update for current SAFE CARE Medical Professionals and Child Advocates.  Attendees were treated to keynote and workshop presentations by Carole Jenny, MD, MBA, Director of the Child Protection Program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and Robert Reece, MD, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine, two nationally recognized experts in the field of Medical Issues involving child abuse and neglect.
