9th National Conference on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention

The National Children’s Advocacy Center will host the 9th National Conference on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention at the Marriott Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 26-28, 2008.

Forensic Evaluation Training

The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) is offering a Forensic Evaluation Training for graduate level mental health clinicians who are interested in conducting extended forensic evaluations of children when sexual abuse is suspected. This training is appropriate for both clinicians with some experience and those just beginning this type of work. It is not designed for front line investigative interviewers who conduct one-time interviews.

The training will be held over three full days on April 28-30, 2008, July 28-30, 2008 and November 12-14, 2008.  The fee for each training session is $549.  Participants are responsible for all transportation, lodging and some meals (lunches will be provided).

Healing the Heart of a Challenging Child

The Missouri State University Department of Nursing is sponsoring a parenting conference on Saturday, April 19th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. called Healing the Heart of a Challenging Child. Proceeds from the conference will support nursing scholarships.

A Medical Response to Child Abuse

Stdsafecare Missouri KidsFirst is proud to announce a comprehensive two-day medical training for providers that work with abused children.  A Medical Response to Child Abuse will be held on April 28-29, 2008, at the Resort at Port Arrowhead in Lake Ozark, MO.  Look for on-line registration coming the middle of March, 2008.

Crimes Against Children Conference

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center and the Dallas Police Department are presenting their 20th Annual Crimes Against Children Conference on August 11-14, 2008, in Dallas, Texas.  The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.  Look for on-line registration beginning in early March, 2008.

Civil Justice for Victims of Crime in Missouri

The National Center for Victims of Crime in conjunction with the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and the Missouri Victim Assistance Network will be offering a free training seminar for criminal justice practitioners, victim advocates, mental health therapists and other allied professionals.  The seminar, Civil Justice for Victims of Crime in Missouri, will explore how victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, child sex abuse, drunk driving, homicide, workplace violence, terrorism, nursing home abuse, and financial and property crimes can use civil lawsuits to obtain justice, hold responsible parties accountable, prevent future crimes, and obtain the financial resources victims need to rebuild their lives.  The program will cover resources and strategies for victims considering civil lawsuits, and will include a panel of attorneys to answer specific questions of Missouri law.

The seminar runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 p.m. It will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd at the headquarters of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.  There is no cost to attend, but space is limited, so register today.
