About Missouri KidsFirst

Missouri KidsFirst is a statewide network of individuals, programs and organizations committed to protecting Missouri's Children by improving the response to child victims and ending the cycle of child abuse in our communities. We are dedicated to providing resources, training, support and the public awareness necessary to end child abuse in Missouri.

Missouri Kids at Risk

Child Sexual Abuse is at epidemic proportions.

Each year, Missouri's Child Advocacy Centers serve almost 6,000 children who are victims of abuse.  Current estimates suggest that as many as 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually assaulted by age 18.

Children who are victims of sexual abuse are at higher risk of abusing alcohol and drugs, developing eating disorders, failing in school and becoming victims of domestic violence.

Nearly 70% of child sex offenders have between 1 to 9 victims; 20% have 10 to 40 victims.

Missouri KidsFirst

Missouri KidsFirst provides leadership in prevention, intervention and prosecution of child abuse in Missouri through advocacy, training, support, development and statewide collaboration.

Advocacy

Raises awareness of child abuse issues in Missouri, promoting a better way of responding to kids in crisis, and advocating for professionals who prevent, intervene and prosecute child abuse.

Training

Enhances the abilities of Missouri professionals who work in response to child abuse and neglect by offering research-based training.

Prevention

Partners with state and local organizations to develop strategies for the prevention of child sexual abuse in Missouri.

Support

Provides technical assistance and organizational support for member Child Advocacy Centers and partnering organizations.

Development

Develops financial resources to sustain the work of Child Advocacy Centers and partnering organizations.

Statewide Collaboration

Builds and strengthen relationships for individuals, programs and organizations committed to protecting Missouri's children.
